In my experience, everyone excels when the expectations are set high. For the coming school year I expect students to show up ready to learn with an open mind. I expect students, staff and parents in my room will treat everyone with respect. I expect children to make 3rd Grade appropriate choices and I will hold students accountable for the all of choices they make socially and academically. Lively discussion and participation are part and parcel of membership in the classroom community and I expect every student to show up and do their very best work each day. My goal for 3rd Grade is to help students become more resilient as they navigate this challenging stage in their social/academic development. I will provide a stable, structured environment with high behavioral and academic expectations. I will connect with each child individually and guide them and instruct them throughout the year. I will inspire them to push themselves to do their best. I am looking forward to making a family with the kids and families of Room 204. I look forward to getting to know your kids and your family. One thing I am looking forward to is bringing in two of my outside of school passions, coding and music! I hope to get the students started (or continuing) with programs like Scratch and Python, both of which are accessible for people new to coding. I also plan to bring in my guitar and other musical instruments so we can have a change to sing together. I am excited for the '18-'19 school year here at Anna Yates, I have a very good feeling about this.
