Masks are required indoors for all students, staff, and visitors in TK-12 schools. Masks are also requested outdoors; while outdoors, opportunities to take "mask breaks" are allowed. The schools will provide masks to any student or staff who does not have one.
Physical distancing is not required. Recent evidence indicates that in-person instruction can occur safely when other mitigation strategies (e.g., wearing a mask) are implemented.
On-site meal services will resume at EUSD. Both breakfast and lunch will be available for every student at no charge. Schools will maximize physical distance as much as possible during meal times; various spaces will be used to provide increased physical distancing.
Health screening will continue for students and staff. EUSD requests any student or staff member who feels sick stay home and not return to in-person instruction until 24 hours after symptoms subside.

COVID-19 case reporting, contact tracing, and investigation procedures will continue to follow Alameda County Public Health Department (ACPHD) Guidelines, which can be reviewed here. Click here for COVID-19 Flowchart for Families (graphic).
Schools will reinforce healthy hand hygiene practices, such as washing hands, avoiding contact with eyes, nose, and mouth, and covering coughs and sneezes. Schools are stocked with hygiene supplies such as soap, tissues, face coverings, and hand sanitizer and additional handwashing stations.
New California laws (AB/SB 130) outline the expectation for all students to attend the 2021-2022 school year fully in person. However, a few students may be unable to return physically, due to medical/health concerns. EUSD will provide online options through the Independent Study program. Go to http://emeryusd.org for additional information.
COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended for all eligible people including staff, students, and adults sharing homes with these members of K-12 communities, but not required to attend school. See vaccination locations and information for Alameda County here.
