Technology Resources

2:1 Device Initiative

In 2022-23, Anna Yates rolled out a 2:1 technology program, or two devices per student, one for home and one for school. The initiative spans grades TK-8, with grades TK-1 being issued iPads, and grades 2-8 being issued laptops. The new devices will remain in the classrooms for student use the entire academic year and will not go home with students at this time while the older device has been sent home for at home use. We are still awaiting device rollout for grades TK-1.

For this initiative to be successful, it is important our students care for their devices, both at home and at school, so when using their Chromebooks please reinforce that they:
  • Keep it on a flat surface like a table or a desk.
  • Keep any items from piling up on top
  • Keep the keyboard clear of items when closing it
  • Keep food and drinks away; make sure your hands are clean.
  • Be careful when carrying it: make sure it is closed, always use two hands, and never carry it by the screen
  • Keep it charged; plug it in when you are not using it
  • Keep the Chromebook clean and free of stickers
  • Unplug headphones and chargers before moving
  • Tell the teacher or office right away if it breaks
  • Remember, this device is loaned to you and is the school’s property.

After reading and reviewing the Acceptable Use Agreement with your child, please sign and return to your child’s teacher. For additional parent resources on digital citizenship, we recommend visiting Common Sense Media.
